Frequently asked questions

ASME B31.3 for process piping and B16.5 for flanges, with your own pipe class sheets layered on top. The counts are seeded on the codes you already estimate under - not guessed by a model that's never seen a class sheet.

PDFs, native or scanned. CAD. 3D model exports where they exist. Real bid packages are messy - mixed revisions, scanned sheets, drawings that were faxed at some point in their life. That's the normal case, and the engine is built for it.

Off the branch table in your pipe class sheet - which is the only place the answer actually lives. The engine resolves the branch type from the class and the line sizes either side of it, rather than trying to read intent off the symbol.

Lengths come from isometrics and scaled general arrangements. They do not come from P&IDs - a P&ID isn't to scale, and any tool that claims a length off one is guessing. When the package has isos, theTakeoff reads lengths and spool breaks off them directly.
